Through the teaching of economics and finance, École des Ponts ParisTech is continuing a tradition of excellence that dates back to the pioneering work of Jules Dupuit (1844) on measuring utility and financing public works. This tradition has continued with Jean Tirole, winner of the 2014 Nobel Prize for Economics for his work in industrial economics on market power and regulation, and for his analysis of the strategies of the network industries.
